New Law Expands Tax Relief Options for Disaster Victims

Signed into law July 24, 2025, the Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act offers expanded protections and flexibility for taxpayers affected by natural disasters.

At our firm, we’re always looking for ways to help you stay prepared—and informed. We’re pleased to share that a new federal law strengthens the IRS’s ability to offer tax relief when disaster strikes, making it easier for individuals and businesses to recover financially.

Previously, the IRS could only postpone tax deadlines for disasters declared at the federal level. ✅ Why This Is Good News

This new law brings much-needed clarity and flexibility to a system that often required taxpayers to wait for federal action. By expanding authority to include state-declared disasters, and by increasing the extension period, taxpayers have more time to recover—and we have better tools to support you when you need it most.
